Walter is queen, Eichenlaub runner-up

LAURELTON -- Tears filled Vanessa Walter's eyes Wednesday evening as she accepted the crown and sash identifying her as Miss Union County West End Fair Queen 2010. Walter, a 19-year-old Mifflinburg Area High School graduate, can now add "fair queen" to her long list of West End Fair activities, which she told the fair judges she has kept track of in a scrapbook over the years.

In her speech, Walter highlighted some of her favorite fair memories. The topic of the speech, which was required from all 10 contestants, was "Why You Should Come to My Fair."
